Update regarding “Questions and Answers on the Title IX Regulations on Sexual Harassment”

On July 20, 2021, the U.S. Department of Education’s Office for Civil Rights released “Questions and Answers on the Title IX Regulations on Sexual Harassment” and a related Appendix.  The FAQs provide information and clarifications related to new regulations that were issued in May of 2020 mandating how Princeton and all other colleges and universities must investigate and adjudicate sexual misconduct cases under Title IX, a federal statute that prohibits discrimination on the basis of sex or gender in any federally funded education program or activity.  Upon careful review, we have determined that the new OCR Questions and Answers, while informative, do not necessitate any changes to our current policies and procedures, as set forth in the Title IX Sexual Harassment policy and the University Sexual Misconduct Policy.
