On June 23, 2022, the U.S. Department of Education Office for Civil Rights (“OCR”) issued a proposed rule to amend regulations implementing Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 (“Title IX”). The University is in the process of assessing draft regulations. Any potential changes to current University policies and procedures resulting from new regulatory action would not be implemented until the new regulations formally go into effect, which will not take place until after the Department of Education has completed formal rule-making (a multi-month process). If changes to our current policies and procedures are warranted, the community can be assured that our commitment of the wellbeing of our students, faculty, and staff will remain unchanged.
