Update regarding Executive Order on “Guaranteeing an Educational Environment Free from Discrimination on the Basis of Sex, Including Sexual Orientation or Gender Identity.

Princeton University is committed to providing an inclusive and welcoming educational and working environment for everyone — an environment in which sexual misconduct, including sexual harassment and sexual violence, is not tolerated.

On March 8, 2021, President Biden issued an Executive Order on “Guaranteeing an Educational Environment Free from Discrimination on the Basis of Sex, Including Sexual Orientation or Gender Identity.”  The Order requires the Department of Education “to review and reconsider all existing regulations and guidance, and issue new guidance as needed to carry out this policy and Title IX’s commitment.”

The University will look forward to receiving additional information and guidance from the Department of Education in the coming months, and we will to continue to engage and seek input from the University community on these important issues.

For more information regarding the University’s current policies related to Title IX/sexual misconduct, please see the Title IX Sexual Harassment policy and the University Sexual Misconduct policy.  Further information is available on the sexual misconduct website and the sexual misconduct investigations website.
